Portmeirion pottery is made from a very dense, high-fired and white earthenware that resists chipping and breaking for many years of normal use. Portmeirion is impervious to dishwashers, microwave ovens, and freezers, and it is safe in the oven to 170°C/340°F.

Portmeirion cookware is made from a strong white stoneware that resists temperature changes and is safe in the oven to 200°C/390°F. The ovenware also has a ribbed, slightly rough finish on the bottom, making it less likely to slip. Because stoneware is non-porous, it cleans easily.
