Royal Doulton has been in business since 1815,
when it became known for its high-quality housewares in brown
stoneware. In the 1870s the company achieved worldwide fame
with its elaborate stoneware tankards, jugs, and vases. Many
of these are dated and signed by various artists, who became
famous as Doulton artists. They are valuable collector’s
items today.
The company has been making fine porcelain and bone china
since 1882.
